Louis Latapie is a French painter who develops his oeuvre through still life and nude paintings until reaching a very colorful cubism.
In 1923 he works with Georges Braque on a project of cubic houses. In the Fifties through the simplification of shapes he approaches abstraction. In the painting of Louis Latapie the female nude plays an essential role as a leitmotiv in multiple variations.
This research becomes a priority in his painting period in Avignon. His color work becomes vibrant, nearly violent, the simplification of shapes in his paintings have been never reached before.
