Anja Klafki's statement : "My intent is mainly to follow the fragmentary view of landscape and to explore the description of landscapes. What does the minimal imaging repertoire consist of to define a landscape visually? How do we recognize and perceive landscape? By using human infrastructure as a compositional element the picture escapes from a romanticizing interpretation. It refers to the appearance of nature today and the localization of a landscape. Works like “Ashore” or “Delaware” involve the viewpoint of the spectator: We need bridges, piers, streets or planes for sightseeing. But at the same time, this infrastructure obstructs our view on landscape and affects our perception."
